So I am messing with the profile settings trying to get the PMs popup notifier to work correctly. During this time I may intentionally or unintentionally modify some or all of the settings you may currently have. I have done most of this testing already so if affected more than likely it will have already occured. Sorry for the inconvenience. Let me know if you guys notice any other discrepencies.

well, it appers the java pop up does not work, there is a pop up window, but unless you allow pop ups your browser will more than likely block it. and i didnt really have an easy way to show other than that, i did add a link on the forum index profile section so it will be easier to see, other than just the front page.

there are 3 places other than the popups to see if there are PMs or not. On the front page, the one with the announcements, under your avatar (if you are signed in) it will say 'You have (1) new messages' and the same goes for the forum index. Also in the forums the toolbar at the top with the little icons, will Flash red on the PM icon. And if you allow pop-ups from here, you will get a pop-up window. I promise I won't ever put a pop-up on this site...ads will be places, but only on pages and not using pop-ups.

google toolbar doesn't allow pop-ups... thank God... but it's not completely accurate... some still sneak through.

i dont use the google toolbar either, but there is something with IE i think that blocks popups, i know definitely in IE7 there is, along with other anti-identity theft and active-x blockers, but even on IE6 it used to block them and i have never installed google toolbar. IE7 can set it to search google from your address bar by just typing the keyword there. pretty nice.

im really used to using IE, i have tried time and time again to use firefox since i know how insecure IE is, but firefox always crashes on me over and over again. so i have always defaulted back to IE.
