Hey guys. New here but belong to several forums, but anyway...I've got a 97 F3 with a F4 front end including tire & rim with the traditional 97 six spoke rear and stock swingarm. I'm not a big fan of the three spoke, but I am a fan of symetry and I've got to have matching rims. My problem is I want to convert to the three spoke rear rim and tire, but I don't know if they are compatable with the 97 rear swing arm, spocket, brake rotor / caliper setup. I know the tire size difference which isn't a big deal cause I already have a 180/55/17 rear on now.

Please help much love~D

1. find out what is width of rear rim - 5" or 5.5"? i "think" f4/i is 5.5" and f3 stock rim is 5".

2. compare replacement rim width with stock rim.

3. i believe that since the f4/i rim is wider by .5", you will need to at the very least cut down the wheel spacers or make new ones. the rim will fit between the swingarm.

4. however, there is still the matter of the caliper and caliper mount. because the rim is .5 wider at the bead, i do not know if the f4/i rim is wider at the hub. i assume it is. that means the rear brake rotor will possibly run offset to the brake caliper. with that in mind, you may have to get the caliper mount shaved down at the axle to move the caliper more outboard or have a custom mount made, or find a mount from a different model that will work.

5. and this last point could just be minor, but you'll need to see if chain alignment from front sprocket to rear sprocket isn't too offset. it is only .25" wider from rim center but could be enough to cause pre-mature chain wear.
