Hey everyone, first time post but unfortunately it pertains to an annoying problem. My 900 has been sitting all winter and this week i go to start it and i get no spark. Ok, check fuses, ignition fuse blown. swap out and check main wiring, hit start button, blows again. Swap fuse out again, pull tank off, remove fuel pump, check more wiring. friend hits start button and she fires up and runs! Hook fuel pump again, engine stalls and fuse blows! I checked every single wire, ground, and connection and nothing seems out of line! i have been told a gravity-feed wont work on earlier 900's so i have to figure this out and post this to every cbr forum out there. Can anyone help?

Did your plugs smell like fuel?  If so, your pump is dumping excess fuel into the carbs.  You may want to check into a new pump if that one is blowing fuses.  I would suggest that if you have a multi meter check the voltage of the fuse when it blows.  This will give you a starting point.

well i took the pump apart and sanded the contact points in the switch, and now it works fine. Fuse doesn't blow anymore but now the carbs flood into the overflow tube and the engine fall flat on it's face. I did notice that now when it starts up, right before it floods the pump starts to work constant till the filter fills up. when it ran last year the filter only filled a 1/4 of the way up and now it's more like 3/4. I took the carbs off and thinking about sending them to a shop cause these things don't look like the car carbs i'm used to playing with.
