Ok I know it is some time away but Sil03R6 and I are planning a trip to Deals Gap for the summer of 2010.  Who would be interested in going?  I, personally, am riding from IN to the Gap.  It is just shy of 370 one way.  It would be one of the smaller road trips I have taken.

I would love to, but I can pretty much guarantee I can't get the time off from work or afford the trip in the first place.  When I can, I will let you know.  Here's to me winning the lottery sometime soon.

No promises, but I'm interested.  "Seester" lives down that way somewhere (severe-ville).  Route picked out yet?  Meet someplace or pick up stops along the way?  I figure bike gets 47 mph,  @ under a 100.

I still have tenative (how ya spell it?) Virginie mtns run for this Oct.  Yeah, I know cold, maybe not?  PA folks have backed out, but if we'd like we could ride up and see them!

The Pittsburgh lunch and run is floating around (took me three tank fulls for that, last time).  Ya get into the roads cut into rock faced area around Stuebenville.

I'll keep checking in re: Deal's Gap-just concerned about zealous LEO' s down there.  Sister sends me news clips-rider ticketed for having shoulder leaning over dbl yellow line.  Yeah, call me Mr. Negative.

Email arrived.  MINI (car type) are heading to Dragons/Deals Gap on April 28 thru May2.  Matches the former Chimney Rock Hillclimb date (of last full weekend in April).  Still looking to head out here quickly (next week now).  Shouldn't be a s much traffic there now.  IMS 2010, talked with Killjoy photo guy at his booth at the Cleveland Show. Outa curiousity...full schedule and their plans @ www.minisonthedragon.com/schedule.php

Just in from me "widdle seester".....

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- It will cost Tennessee about $2 million to remove a rock slide from U.S. 129 and stabilize the mountainside.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation let an emergency contract for $1.99 million to Pacific Blasting Demolition Ltd. on Monday, but the contract has incentives for completing the work earlier than the July 31 deadline.

The highway -- known to motorcyclists as the Dragon -- is closed from near Chilowee Lake in the Tennessee Smoky Mountains foothills to the North Carolina state line.

TDOT said Tuesday it is still working to reopen portions of the road.

Travel between Tennessee and North Carolina has become complicated with slides also closing Interstate 40 near the state line and U.S. 64 in the Ocoee River Gorge.

Travel is also hampered by a smaller rock slide on Monday on U.S. 441 in the Smokies.

Newfound Gap Road reopened Tuesday morning, with a detour through a parking area adjacent to the slide. The speed limit there is 15 miles per hour.

The detour will remain in place as park officials monitor the slope's activity to determine its stability.

I saw that earlier.  My buddy crashed so the trip was pushed back a little.

I just went to the Tail on 2 July with my MV Agusta.  My first time....it was absolutely stunning there!  Roads were brilliant and the atmosphere was completely biker friendly!
