A disappointment.  Dave (I think his name was) responded to aposting of this elsewhere-evidentally the 'gaunt-lette', barbs are not only removeable, but made of soft foam.  Shoot there went my idea of using them on somebody leaning into a corner.  I guess that'll mean finding a different racer's edge!  ;>P
