Hey,

I have a 96 Honda cbr600f3, all stock. I bought it 6 months ago, it ran when I received it, drove it twice then left it for 2 days which led to me not being able to start it since, that was in august-ish.

So...My questions are what is causing it not to start. (yes, I've searched all the previous posts)

Here is everything I have done to check it out.

It has brand new spark plugs, fuses have all been replaced (regardless if they were not blown) New K&N air filter AND oil filter. Mobil 1 syn. oil change. New battery. I ran a whole bottle of fueled system cleaner and mid grade gas in it when I went on 2nd and final ride on it. Tried different settings of choke, tried starting fluid in the airbox.  I have tested spark, it is not STRONG but not weak....it's a basic sparking white blue. It's cranks really well, just not one com-bustable sound to it. no clue what to do now

Also, can there be a chance that brand new spark plugs used for 35 to 50 miles can go bad? I took them out and it looked like smoke coughed on them, cleaned them up with carb cleaner, let me dry, put em back in and nothing. that's my only guess and no I cannot afford anything for my bike right now, no not even spark plugs..(I have court problems) so until I can, I'll just ask you guys.

Finally what are some newbie mistakes made with carb'ed bikes? I'm sure I've done something that I should not have done with it. What are the do's and dont's.

Thanks in advance guys.

My response may sound like I am being a smart ass but I am not meaning to be at all.
  • Did you check your kill switch to see if it was set to the Run position?
  • Is it in gear?  If so, did you pull in the clutch

Check those things first and check back in with us.
