Joe Rocket Honda Supersport
Details
When I bought this jacket, I got it second-hand for a considerable discount. The jacket was still in immaculate condition and had maybe seen one day of use. This jacket is an officially licensed Honda product by Joe Rocket. At first look, the jacket is beautifually accented with a large Honda wing spreading from the lower right abdomen across to the left shoulder on a white background. The back of the jacket also features the same wing continued around the body with the Honda Racing logo across the side. The right breast is filled in with an HRC logo. The right arm is red and has the Woody Honda Racing patch near the shoulder. Both arms have black on the inner side of the sleeves and display a wing and the brand name, Honda. The Dunlop logos are sprawled across the area from the neck to shoulder. A molded plastic Joe Rocket protector covers each shoulder for added protection.
This jocket is constructed of heavy duty 630 Hitena twill nylon and comes equipped with removable C.E. rated protectors in the shoulder, elbows, and spine pad. The spine pad features a pocket for an optional spine protector. The Honda wing is constructed of some type of leather. A removable insulated vest liner is included for nippy rides too (this is a Joe Rocket standard). Two front intakes and two rear exhausts comprise the Variable Flow ventilation system which works very efficient. A Sure Fit adjustable waistband, 8" zipper for Joe Rocket pant attachment, and a reflective stripe round out the features of this jacket.
I have had this jacket for close to two years and it has held up suitably well. The biggest issue I had with the jacket is the zipper. The teeth and the slider are made of metal and over time the metal teeth wear the slider down to the point that it no longer sufficiently presses the teeth together. The only way to fix this is to replace the slider or the teeth. Joe Rocket sent me two replacement sliders free of charge which I am now currently on my 3rd slider; time to call Joe again! On that note, the metal slider and teeth slowly eat at the inside edges of the leather wing as the jacket is zipped up and down. The damage is minimal and probably unnoticable to most, I noticed, but it has no effect on the functionality of the jacket. You will also notice the sleeves have zippers at the wrist, not anything new as they are for tucking your shorty gloves into and fitting fat wrists into, but they added a button that acts as a latch. At first this latch is very annoying and have heard so from numerous people, but ultimately it gets better with time and you will learn to deal with it. I'm not really sure if it has a purpose or if it is just added protection to ensure the zippers stay closed in the event of a rider down.
Overall, the Joe Rocket Honda Super Sport Jacket is a very nice addition to any riders protective apparal collection. The material is easily cleaned, it comes equipped with industry standard protection, is comfortable, and looks amazing to boot! If you are on the edge whether this jacket will live up to your standards, is most certainly will. Joe Rocket also offers this jacket in a leather version.
